Open Letter to Current Deputies and Detention Center Employees

I hope that every Moore County Deputy and Detention Center employee will take the time to read this one page. I plan on being the next Sheriff of Moore County and I want you as excited about the future as I am.

Let me start out by assuring each of you that no one's job will be in jeopardy. The only individuals that will be leaving the Sheriff Office will be the departing Sheriff.

Each and every one of you are important to me. I know that you are overworked, underpaid, and underappreciated, but all that is going to change. I have been thoroughly briefed as to how the Office is currently functioning. I will be implementing many changes when I arrive, and I asked that you give me at least six months to get all the changes in place after I take office. I assure you, at the end of that six months, you will look forward to coming to work each day, because you will begin to see that your life, and your efforts will actually start making a difference in this community and in this State. You will be a part of The Office of Sheriff in North Carolina revolutionizing how crime is defeated in North Carolina.

Here are just some of the changes that I promised to implement when I take office:

1)The "good old boys" network management style will be abolished. Everyone, and I mean everyone, will have a career at the department, and no one will be stuck in a dead end job.

2)The department will no longer have access to your personal phone logs, text messages, or e-mails. You will not be working under a blanket of fear, and you will no longer be treated as the problem, but appreciated as the solution.

3)The Office will install its own crime lab, which will save millions of dollars in incarceration costs. These savings will first go to paying for the crime lab. The rest of the savings will go towards increased salaries. Salaries are way too low. I envision an across the board $20,000 raise to all current deputies and detention center employees. Starting salaries will be $50,000 per year, and after a six-month probationary period, a new deputy would be earning $60,000 per year. All other deputies will be making between $60,000 per year to $110,000 per year, depending on crime results. You give me results and I will assure you, you will receive respectable compensation. By utilizing current assets under my leadership and management skills, the Office will bring in $22,000,000 to $48,000,000 per year, which will make the Office free to the taxpayer, and make it possible to meet the financial raises outlined on this page.

4) I will have an open door policy. I will always make time for you if you need to talk to me. Even if you want to talk to me now, I invite your ideas. Feel free to call, drop by, text or email me. I assure you any contact with me will be kept confidential.
